Hive inspection 5/20/2020

Hive #2:

  • frames are partially drawn,
  • the hive is active
  • easy to find queen
  • bees seem to be using upper entrance (upside down intermediate board with some spacers under telescopic board) almost as often as they are using the bottom one

Hive #1

  • unable to locate the queen, but presence of two day old eggs suggests she’s still in there somewhere.
  • bees aren’t using upper entrance despite the fact that it’s been there for 3 days now

  • the comb on one frame is being built

Overall notes

  • looks like decent pollen intake
  • one hive had beetles
  • ant everywhere, need to build legs
